Hi everyone! :D Been away from the forum for a good while. Life has me in its wringers lately, but thankfully mostly for good. :) It's been fun catching up on all the forum happenings!

Unfortunately, I've found Charlette has a small-ish lump underneath her chin. Poor little lady. :( We are heading over to the vets tomorrow. (With Marla in tow for emotional support. If it is for me or for Charlette is not certain :)).) Here's hoping the vet will be able to give some good news, rather than have one of my worries come to pass. It doesn't seem to bother her, (unless I'm trying to see how large it is. But who could blame her,) and is her normal cheerful self at the moment. Earlier today she was chattering her teeth at me because Marla was taking to long with her first drink when I added new fresh water into the water bottle. It's my turn mum!

Fingers crossed for her. Donald had two abscesses and a fatty lump come up under his chin literally overnight (he loves a chin rub so we found it quick). He had an operation to remove and it healed really quick, it didn't even need marsupialising so here's hoping whatever the lump is can be dealt with quickly

Sending healing vibes and have my fingers and toes firmly crossed for her! I went through lump surgery with Digby, thankfully all was well but it is a worrying time!

Thank you everyone!

Unfortunately, due to other circumstances we weren't able to go to the vet last Thursday, and ended up going today instead. Happily, it ended up being an abscess that the vet was able to lance and clean the yuk out the same day. At the moment, she is getting over her initial wooziness from being under anesthesia. Both piggies are beyond exhausted and happy to be back home. It cheers me to watch her checking everything out in her cage now making sure it remained the same while she was gone. Also, she downed a lettuce leaf with much enthusiasm! Her poor face on the way home though....you have betrayed me human! :))

Also another reason for thankfulness, we had been watching her for ovarian cysts, but today that proved nothing to worry about. Glad to have my little one in the clear!

Now for a few rounds of pain meds and antibiotics! :D

I'm happy to read the forum now with the good news! So very good to see that beautiful little mop doing very well :). After the relieved sigh, take a break from the stress you've had and hoping you both have a wonderful day.

Ah many, many thanks! :hug:Me too!

Excellent that it's been dealt with straight away. Here's to a speedy recovery

Having just finished with Merab's abscess I feel for you. Every day meant bathing with Hibiscrub and trying to squeeze pus out. Merab didn't like this and as soon as she's finished whatever I was bribing her with wriggled to sit on my arm and generally make it as difficult as possible.
Hope Charlette's abscess heals quickly.

Poor Merab! :( I'm glad to hear she has healed nicely! Does she have any sort of scar now? How long did it take to get her 100%? (Also, I'd love to see a picture of the lovely lady if you have one handy!)

Thankfully, at the moment, Charlette is completely free of pus having had it all drained out yesterday. Honestly, to me it looks so painful, but she has been her happy bouncy self. Apparently the pain meds are working wonders! :))

Also, she seems to love the taste of both the antibiotics and pain meds, and put up very little struggle this morning when I gave them to her. But they are both honey and cherry flavors, so they must taste pretty nice. She was nosing the bottle for some more! :D

Here’s Merab for you.
I was lucky this time in that I picked up the abscess quickly - it’s taken about 4 - 5 weeks to clear. I will just need to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t flare up again.
Merab’s fur is growing back slowly.
My vet has never prescribed pain meds or antibiotics for any of mine when we’ve had abscesses. There was just once when Jemimah had a really nasty abscess and a slight infection set in . Their argument is that they don’t prescribe meds unless there is an obvious need to avoid over use and the piggies developing an immunity when it’s really needed.
