Bloomin heck,
I have been putting the newly neutered (2 weeks ago) Charlie in one side of the run with a divide in the middle, and toffee on the other, so they can chat and get to know eachother before moving in together, i was watching them today until a friend turned up, went and made coffee, showed her the baby rats we just got, take her outside to show her Charlie and he's only in with toffee. Don't know how he managed it, he could of been in there for half an hour.
What are the chances of toffee being pregnant if he was neutered 2 weeks ago, I am gonna worry now for sure, she's 13 months old.
aggghhhhh,
any advice would be great guys
Thanks Paula x

Oh no. Gosh I bet it made his day ;) ;) I am not sure about the getting her up the duff but she will probably be fine well a least i hope so! I am sure some one will help!

You only need to leave it 2 weeks before putting them together anyway ;D I only leave it 2 weeks and my vet and the CCT only recommend 2 weeks so you have no need to worry O0

Most likely because they probably dont actually know 98) I have heard of some vets that tell people to put them in together straight away and others that say 6 - 8 weeks. I used to leave it 4 weeks but that was on the advice of a vet I went to a long time ago. My current vet is very bunny/piggy savy and I trust his opinion completly, that backed up with the advice from CCT. I have not had any problems since doing it after 2 weeks 8)

You should NOT put them together before three weeks, if you do so you are taking a risk, same as if you leave a baby boar with it's mother for longer then three weeks, the risk of the mother getting pregnant is higher. After two weeks plus other things e.g. her actually being fertil at the time he was in the cage, I doubt he has got her pregnant, however, he could have. At 13 months the risk of her having birthing difficulties are increased, yet many guineas have had healthy first litters, without difficulties after the one year rule. To make it clear though I seriously doubt she is pregnant. O0

I put mine in after 2 wheeks like Cheryl. Anything less than 2 Wheeks and he'd possibly give himself sores/injuries trying to do anything anyway ::)

will give them supervised floor time everyday at 3 weeks, and if all goes well in the hutch together at 4 weeks
thanks guys, glad she should be ok.
