My beautiful baby has lost all this fur around her neck and a bit on her back. I don't know whats wrong. Perhaps another piggie in the cage is pulling it out? or maybe she is pulling it out? Or maybe it is falling out. I don't know. There's no cuts or scratches, just clean bald bits with no fur. I hear alot of squeling from the cage as ringo loves to nip other pigs and show them she is the boss. Anyone got any idea whats wrong with her?

if the other piggy is that bossy it could be stress?
i havent got any more ideas,i think charlotte had this problem recently and her piggy also had no signs of mites or fungal infecxtion, hopefully someone can help soon x

My first idea would be to check for mites and fungus as the likeliest cause, and treat for those. Only then would I go for other explanations. Treatment is not expensive; and guinea pigs don't always scratch like mad despite having mites or a fungal infection. If either goes untreated, it can kill the guinea pig, and not in a nice way.

Have you got ivomectin/ivermectin available in OZ? Bonnie, you might be able to advise on what to go for in case of fungus.

Hey Tay. I remember you telling me at school, about charm. I see she isn't getting much better. I don't know what could be wrong with her. Maybe it might be the something like what Pancake had a while ago. Hope she gets better soon.

i actually liked the gorgeous guineas range which has to be ordered online,we dont have that many fantastic treatments that are easy to find in oz,another option which ultimately cleared my piggies fungal infection was betadine/iodine,
its available at chemists and i just bathed him in water with a few drops of it everyday and applied it to the skin twice daily inbetween, its cheap so it wont hurt to try it,Iodine isnt as available as betadine but you should be easily able to get a hold of one of them xxxxxxx

your best bet is to email Chrissie from GG as she is very good with identifying skin problems even just from pictures, she can also recommend the right products for your sow and give you detailed instructions on how to use them.

The prices are reasonable too for something of that quality

Stress, hormonal imbalances and vitamin deficiencies also lead to hair loss.

As the others have suggested, at the moment I would consider bathing her in an antifungal shampoo and treating with Ivermectin to be sure it is not either a parasitic or fungal infection.

We don't have anti-fungal shampoo. She has had it once before. I really don't want to try seperate her because she loves her friends but if we must I will. I'm not allowed to buy online products. I'll try and remember to take some photo's tomorrow of her loss of hair...

Can you look in local pharmacies? If you look for shampoos containing ketoconazole, sold for human dandruff - these are the ones we use in UK.

Do they have Nizoral in Australia? It's available online, hopefully it's in pharmacies too.

Yea.. My piggy seems to have this problem as well too :(
Discovered that some of her fur is gone.. but new hair is growing out from the bald patches...

gosh wondering what's wrong.
she looks fine to me, eating very well, drinking very well.

is there a possibility that other piggies are biting off her fur or something?
I keep hearing squeaking sound sometimes from the cage but can't differentiate which one does the squeaking sound :( since 4 of them r staying together.. hmMmm so troubled!
