Chatting To The Piggies

DH has been working at home this week, and today he mentioned how much I chat to the guinea pigs.

DH: You know that every time you walk over to the guinea pig cage to open and close the window, you tell them what you are doing.
Me: Yes. I like to let them know I am about to open/close the window.
DH: They still always act like you are brandishing a chain saw.
Me: Well technically they do overact slightly.
DH: They have lived in that exact same place for 2 years.
Me: So what are you trying to say?
DH: You should switch to another language - I don't think they understand English.

So rude - thank goodness he will be back in the office next week!

I get strange comments when people visit but my partner is used to me talking to them now! I always shout up the stairs when we get home "Hello Piggies" and when we leave I shout "See you later piggies" so they know it's only me opening the door and don't need to worry

some of my piggies understand some commands ! if you talk to your piggies they know you are not going to attack them.

I always talk to mine. I’m fairly sure they understand the word ‘veggies ‘.
It’s very therapeutic talking to the animals. They listen without judging or interruptions.

I chat away to mine all the time, it's one of the fab things about having them!

I talk to mine all day explaining what I'm doing. They know their names and some words, especially my sing songy no, no, no when they go mad with excitement when I open the fridge to get something out for me. Apparently fridges are only for piggie food!

How true @piggieminder . Mine respond to the fridge door, the front door, the back door and the sound of a knife on a chopping board.

I work at home so i'm constantly talking to the piggies everytime I walk past them. My OH thinks I love them more than I love him. Clearly I get more sense out of them lol.
