I've never had a piggie with dental issues but I do want to keep an eye on their teeth.

How should I check them and what should I look for?

I don't know much about piggie teeth but I find the easiest way to see my piggies teeth is to give them a chin rub (so they lift their head up) then gently hold their head still and have a quick look In their mouth. One of the main things I look for is broken teeth :tu:

You can check their front teeth for signs of uneven wear, discolouratuion or breakages. Other than a broken tooth something happening at the front can suggest something is wrong with theie back teeth.

Unfortunately we can't check their back teeth so that's a job for the vet. But we can see signs of a problem:

-struggling to eat
-making weird movements with their mouth or jaw
-leaving bits of veg that they normally eat
-pawing at their mouth
-being interested in food but not eating it when you give them it.
