Cheeky Question.......

My baby is booked in for his teeth to be looked at tomorrow. The vet doing him doesn't think his teeth looked like that they should be causing this sort of problem. He's going to have a good look further back once he's asleep to see if there is something untoward going on there. If he thinks its a simple thing that can be easily resolved he's just going to do it. If he thinks its not in his best interest or likely to come back we won't wake him from the GA and that's all dependant on him making it through anyway.

He doesn't seem so chirpy in himself today but that may just be because he's fed up - he's been sat in the cat basket in the car for the last 2 days. Although he has had a run down the park at lunch time - I'm going to get a name for myself! LOL .

One way or the other this time tomorrow it should all be over.

Keeping him and you in my thoughts tomorrow. Hope the vet can get to the root of the problem. Fingers and paws crossed here.

Fingers crosses for you, I really hope all goes well.

Is he pooping yet?

When our Benny was really ill, I took him to work to give him extra syringe, as he was eating so little - it made all the difference so hopefully it should help you little guy pull through.

Thank you! He is pooping now - yesterday tiny little ones and today bigger ones although he was a bit chocked up before his lunch but think that's because he hasn't had much room to move around, I carefully helped him along a bit before his lunch and then he had his little run afterwards and there were more in the basket when I took him out when we got home. Its not an ideal situation for him but I wanted to get that extra feed in him for tomorrow. He could also have been a little dehydrated so have increased his water syringe amounts too. xx

OH MY GOD! He's only made it! I can't tell you how overwhelmed with relief I am. He had a large spur on one of his very back teeth that couldn't be seen while he was awake. And it was pressing on his tongue, right at the back, the vet has taken that off and filed them all back as far as he can. He's trimmed his front top teeth too while he was under. He's a bit sorry for himself and he's not eaten any of his veggies yet but he's belly is full from the recovery mix they gave him in ICU and he's had a drink (albeit from the syringe). They all know what a wuss I am over my babies so they called over as soon as he was through from theatre (they don't normally until the animals are properly awake, eating and weeing just in case something goes wrong).

The anaesthesia team are bloody marvellous and the vet doing the dental said they used some anaesthetic procedure he's not tried in small furries before and it worked brilliantly.

I've just filled his cat basket with bedding so his warm and cosy, his food and plate of all his favourite veggies - the only plus side of him now being so thin is he can have plenty of his favourite baby sweetcorn! He's going to stay in the cat basket over night to keep warm.

Thank god for this place, its saved my sanity this week! Thank you all so much for your support and for making me feel so welcome!

I am so happy he is doing well. No wonder he could not eat. Poor baby. I hope he recovers soon.

So pleased to read that - it's a great feeling when they come round from the GA. I'm really pleased for you both.

He'll likely need syringe feeding for a few days still but hopefully he will soon realise that he can eat again and once he starts he'll carry on from there.

Sending you all my best for a speedy recovery.

aww bless him, I'm so relieved for you, way to go piggy, fingers crossed for a speedy recovery, get him on the hay and get those teeth working hard x

I know that I'm new and its a cheeky ask but my Piglet is really poorly and I was hoping that if anyone has any spare positive thoughts they could send them our way.

He's not really eaten or poo'd anything for over a week and he's stopped talking which I miss dreadfully! He's been seen by one of the vets again today and we have started him on some recovery food, some zantac in case his tummy is sore and some vitamins to top him up all in the hope we can get his guts working again.

Its been a pretty traumatic day but I'm fortunate to work at a vets and we've had several positives today - he still has gut sounds which is great and he was really keen for his recovery food at lunch time today. I fed him before I left work and he took the lot and more when I got home. He's eaten some dandelion leaf and some of his veggies. I just need poo in the hutch in the morning and I will feel much happier.

I never thought I'd look forward to a dirty hutch!

I'm so glad I found the forum over the weekend - its already made a huge difference to my confidence and understanding of him - we have until the end of this week to see how he gets on.

That's not cheeky at all!

Lots of love to your piggy from me and my piggies Cookie and Beano.
Really hope he gets better!

Thank you everyone! he's bright this morning and because we didn't get on too well with the syringes I've fed him off a spoon this morning. They did warn me at work that however much you think you love them once you hand feed them it increases. I thought my heart would burst listening to him chewing the spoon this morning. He's also had another dandelion leaf this morning but no sign of poo yet - although his bottom is very clean and you can feel his tummy is full now so hopefully today.

Fingers crossed! xx
ounds great good luck with everything

Wow that all sounds so positive, what a lucky boy he is to have you as a mum! Healing vibes on their way x

He's got a right strop on this morning - he hates being the basket in the shed! he won't even look at me and when I lifted him out he butted me - little stinker. He's eaten a little overnight and I've just tried to feed him but with his normal food softened and now he's got a bigger strop on because he likes the CC food better. He did take some of his water though.

As its so lovely here today I've put him out in his hutch - he's laying in the sun at the moment so hopefully his mood will improve and he'll eat his veggies.

It is nice to see the spoilt naughty side of my Pig coming back. xx

He's still not eating on his own. He snatched a baby sweetcorn out of my hand this morning but didn't eat it. He did the same with a carrot. I've fed him soft but more formed nuggets this morning. He's grabbing hold of the syringe when I give him a drink so tonight mixed up his nuggets to liquid and he stuffed it. I'm not sure if he's just being a stinker. Tomorrow I'll give him a good feed in the morning and see if he's eaten anything during the day when I'm not there to pander to his every whim. If he hasn't eaten anything I'll take him back to work on Tuesday. I wonder if he's mouth and throat are a bit sore after the GA.
