we have been to the vets today -

ches has an abnormal lump in his stomach area. the vet said it's not good and he said it could be lesions, an area full of infection, or cancer. he mentioned something about things getting stuck together sometimes inside due to changes. i don't know, i was hysterical by then. 8...

ches is now on metacam twice a day, 1/4 ronoxon tablet once a day, and buscopan twice a day if his tummy is gurgling loudly. he also has to be syringe fed if he isn't eating enough aswell, minimum half a sachet of recovery food a day. it's important he doesn't lose anymore weight.

we have to hope that being on medication will shrink the 'lump' and ches will be having xrays/ultrasound etc. we are back at the vets early next week.

if he does have a tumour then what happens depends on whether it is attached to any organs or not. if it's not he can have an op to try and remove it. if it is then... well you know, i can't even type it.

poor ches 8...

any advice appreciated. x

I'm sorry I can't give you any advice but just to say I am sorry to hear about his lump & hope Ches will be okay x

Caught up on your other thread after your vets visit, just wanted to say thinking of you and lots of love to little Ches, please keep us updated on him and let us know how you get on at the vets next week *hugs* x x

Sending my vibes to you and poor Ches!

Oh no, I'm so sorry, I will be thinking of you and Ches and hoping that the meds work for him x

thanks everyone.

ches seems ok now he's on meds. he's acting fairly normally but he looks tired.

he is eating pretty much normally though which is great.

weighing him at 12 so we'll see how his weight is. if he's lost any then we'll begin syringe feeding.

he takes his meds really well, especially his 1/4 ronoxon tablet in mashed apple! he's fine being syringed metacam aswell. he's so good really.

he likes alot of reassurance so cuddles upto me alot. x)

i'll keep you updated x

good news - he has gone from 943g to 953g so is eating enough to keep his weight up. :)

he's just had his 1/4 ronoxon tablet in some apple and his metacam aswell. he took both fine. nearly took my finger off snatching the apple! :))

he's warmer aswell and is acting fairly normally really. i know it's probably down to the pain relief and meds but aslong as he is feeling well then that's the main thing.

off to pick some grass for them all now which he gets very excited about. x)

maisie is looking after him, cuddling next to him and licking his ears and face. x)

Glad that he is sustaining a good weight. Still sending some healing vibes though :)x>>
Get well soon, little Ches!

great news - his weight has gone from 953g to 973g (+20g) :)

he looks great really. you wouldn't know there was anything potentially wrong now. all the meds seem to be helping alot.

we're sorting out what day to go to the vets tomorrow so it will be probably tuesday or wednesday i think. then we'll see if the lump has got smaller and try and find out what it is aswell.

i'm just so glad ches is feeling well and he's happy. x)

Sending lots of cuddles and healing vibes to Ches from us :laluot_29:
Really hope all goes well for him and understand the worry :(

weight today -

973g to 981g (+8g)

he's gained weight everyday since starting meds.

he seems ok again, been nomming some tasty grass and dandelion leaves.

we have booked the vets for wednesday so he will be having his ultrasound then. fingers crossed we can find out what we're dealing with.

Has your vet done a fine needle asperate and sent it for analysis? If your vet is cavvy savvy he should be able to get a good sample and analyse what type of cells they are.
My Theo had this done without GA and it turned out to be nothing but a fatty lump and was nothing to be concerned about. It did have inflammation which I keep an eye on with weighing as if it gets more inflammed he hops and if it gets much worse would need pain killers .
Theo's lump has been intact for several months and he lives quite happily with it. As its attached to his knee/thigh bone so could never be removed withotu leg amputation.
Its really great his weight is coming up and he's so perky. I would asky aboutt he sample as its not hugely expensive and can put your mind at rest.

weight today - 981g to 983g (+2g) - not a massive increase but anything is good.

we have a really good exotics vet so ches is in the best possible hands.

ches is fine today aswell. ches and maisie went outside in their run yesterday and had a lovely time. we have a better camera now so took lots of pics and some vid clips which i will post once i've sorted through them. x)

vets tomorrow. i feel really nervous. :... x

Great that Ches is doing much better! I hope that it continues!

we have had the best outcome! it's a lesion. :)

the 'lump' is practically gone! the vet struggled to find it! because he knew exactly where to feel, he said that he can feel the last 'remnants'(?) of it but that's it. it was a lesion. we don't know what caused it but it's nearly gone! he doesn't want to do anything invasive when it's responded so well to treatment.

so ches is staying on metacam and ronaxan until saturday and then comes off all meds and we then need to keep an eye on him as there is a chance it could come back, but it's likely that it won't. it's basically healed well.

weight today - 983g to 999g (+16g)

i'm so relieved! even the vet was shocked at how well it had healed in such a short time.

thank you so much for the support and the vibes for ches. x

So pleased to read some good news, so often the Health and Illness section can be a sad place..... really pleased for both you and Ches! x

Fantastic! I'm so pleased to hear that! I'm pleased to report that Clive is finally improving too. Were you seeing Sergio at the vets? He has been amazing with us and Clive - we've spoke to him every day. Give Ches a cuddle from me and Clive :)

I'm glad all is well for, Ches! When I read 'infected area' I didn't really want to add my experience as not to worry you, as unfortunately my pig didn't make it, but luckily now all has turned out for the best!
