last night i could hear a strange squeak that i hadn't heard before, and it was chesney. he did it a few times, and then lay down and was doing it whilst he was asleep. it sounded like he had a blocked nostril, and he would breathe in, and then squeak on the breath out.

anyway, he only did it a few times, but then today he looked up at me and he has like a big bogie in his nostril so it's obviously that what was making him breathe funny.

he's acting normally in all other ways.

he does seem to get a bit hayfeverish sometimes, and i opened a new sack of hay yesterday and it even made my chest go a bit tight, even though it is dust free hay! but with the humid weather aswell, i wondered if it could be to do with that?

his nose isn't runny or anything, just that piece of snot stuck up there.

You can dab a little bit of vicks on his nose (as recommended by Peter Gurney); that usually helps with mine with dusty fresh hay.

Just keep an eye on him in csae he gets crackly breathing, but hopefully it'll be just a one-off!

thanks. i'll get some vicks for him. his breathing sounds normal so i will keep checking it to make sure. he is popcorning as i'm typing this, and burrowing in his hay! x) he's really coming out of himself lately and making lots of new noises i haven't heard before! he used to be very quiet. he wheeked, but not very loudly. :)

Just check to make sure there is not a piece of hay stuck in either or both nostrils.

i've checked him over again just now and i can't see anything up his nostrils, not even that piece of snot, so he has obviously sneezed it out at some point. his breathing sounds the same as it always does which is fine, and he seems ok aswell. he just sat on my chest for ages and seemed quite content so hopefully it was just a bit of hayfever.

i'm taking my rabbits to the vets tomorrow anyway so if he doesn't seem right by tomorrow, i can take him along to the vets aswell. and maisie of course.

chesney stopped making this noise, but has done it again today. it was after i changed the hay again so it seems like it is that. i let him sniff a bit of olbas oil from the bottle. only a little bit. he didn't appreciate it though! but has been ok since.

when would be the time to worry, as he has this and maisie has a cough every so often but this is always after changing the hay. it is dust free hay.

they didn't used to have hay to burrow in so i'm wondering whether to taje it out? but they love it so much. i don't know.
