My guinea pig chestnut is very old. We don’t know exactly how old be cause we got her when she was an adult. Recently she has been very quiet. I went to go give her food and noticed that she had a life amount of gunk around her eyes and nose. her nose has been very runny as well. I picked her up and also noticed she was extremely skinny. Since then i have been holding her. all she wants to do is. e right next no me. It’s almost like she can’t get comfortable she is very restless and is breathing very fast, every minute or so she will lift up her head and then put it back down super fast. i just don’t know what to do cause it is late at night and i don’t think we could take her to the vet. but i honestly don’t knwo if she will make it till tomorrow. Is there anything i can be doing?

She is going to need antibiotics from a vet as soon as you can get her seen by one, as a matter of urgency as it sounds like she has a respiratory infection which unfortunately cannot be cured at home.
Try to wipe the discharge from her nose, they can't breathe through their mouths so if they get gunked up they can't breathe. Steam can help clear the airways so if you can, run a hot shower and sit her on the bathroom floor where she can breathe in the steam but not get wet. She has most likely also not been eating, if you don't have critical care syringe food to give her, soak some of her food pellets in water to make a slurry and try to get her to eat this, either with a syringe or a spoon, it's important when they're sick to make sure they've got food going through them still or their digestive system will start to shut down and make them feel even more poorly.

I'm sorry you are in a difficult situation with your piggie.the best advise i can give,is to take your piggie to an emergency out of hours vet immediatley if you are to save your piggie.start syringe feeding with mushed up pellets.

She is in need of a vet as an emergency. Here in the UK all vets have to link to an out of hours service if you call them when they are closed but I don't know how it works where you are. In the meantime please step in with syringe feeding little and often to try and keep her guts going and preventing her organs from shutting down. I hope she makes it
