Milos eatin the bars of his new cage! how can i stop him i dont want his toofies getting hurt

Mine do this when they are on there own so i assumed it was bordem as soon as they get their friend back it stops. They also do this when they want somthing like if i have veggies

i had him out and he was talking loads and popcorning and his really chewin the cage now will it hurts his toofys?

Its funny one of mine is now doing it and i don't know why coz there is no reason i can think of. If did hurt their teeth then surely they would stop so i don't think it is

my guinea pig snapped his top tooth off quite close to the root, I panicked and took him to the vet, the vet thought it was because he had been chewing on the bars. It grew back quite quick :D

Mr B used to chew the bars when he was indoors by himself - now he is out in the shed with the others he hasn't done it since. Also on outdoor hutches the mesh is closer together so they can't really chew the bars. On indoor cages they can though! I think it's boredom / loneliness / wanting food! Is he by himself?

My other bar chewer is Harry, who did it even though he was in with two girls (he's neutered) - it was like 2 wasn't enough, he wanted to get to the rest!

out of my 9 piggies only Honkey and Harrison do it, I have noticed they do it just before their breakfast veg or when they want their chin rubbed.
Honkey broke a tooth last year but when he was in a different cage and his tooth grew back fine, after a visit to the vets to trim the other tooth down, to the same length as the broken tooth.
Honkey and Harrison love their attention, Harrison will pop corn while having his chin rubbed, may be I have 2 attention seeking piggies.

one of mine chews the cage, it's not a problem though as its usually attention seeking for food, as soon as food is given the chewing stops. I don't think it does hurt their teeth

Mine do this when they want more food! ::) I thought it was a boredom thing but they have lots to do and they have each other as well! :)

Mine only do this when I'm cleaning them out and I've used the top part of the cage to keep them in while I clean the rest and they want out!
