Hi
sorry not sure if this the right place, I have my 2 girls Doris & Mavis almost 2 weeks now, I have a plastic igloo and small litter tray filled with hay, but they are chewing them, is there anything I can do to stop them or something I could give them to chew which is better for them, any ideas would be appreaciated.

Thank
Debbie

I'm afraid guinea pigs chew most things ! Have they got some wooden items -either wooden hides or some chew toys?

My boys chew on their plastic hidey too but they also chew on their wooden bridge hidey, which is probably better for their teeth! Piggies also generally like to chew on cardboard, cardboard boxes or toilet roll tubes stuffed with hay go down well :)

Hi thanks they have a wooden bridge but don't seem to bother with that, I try stuffing some toilet room tubes with hay and see if that takes their interest.

Make sure you cut a slit down the tube length ways as some piggies have managed to get stuck in them otherwise.

i was going to say add more wooden items, perhaps some chew sticks and things. and maybe different varieties of hay aswell to keep them interested in what they should be eating :)) they generally will have a nibble on practically anything given half the chance though :))

We had to switch from plastic to wooden everything because of the little monkeys obsession with chewing....
