Chewy is chewing hair!

Little Chewy (7 weeks old) is chewing Alvin, my adult boar's hair From what I've read its either a dominance thing or boredom? They seem to get along great and I've just made a 4 x 2 C & C cage for them with 2 tunnels and a couple of hideys so I don't think he's bored and there are no other signs of dominance. Alvin doesn't seem to mind at all and just sits there while he does it.

Is there anything I can do before my beautiful long haired piggy becomes a smooth coat?

Barbering happens. It is actually not all that rare in newly bonded piggies that affectionate grooming can go a bit overboard. There is not much you can do; at least with guinea pigs it won't cause problems in the guts!

Hopefully, things will settle down before Alvin turns into a shorthair. He wouldn't be the first longhair piggy getting a full makeover! Chewy is obviously trying to live up to his name! Thankfully, longhairs grow back fairly quickly... mallethead
