Hi all, I know GP's can catch a cold from us so we have steered clear while we've had colds after Christmas but my son appears to either have Chickenpox or Measles, it's just a red itchy rash at the moment - he had the GP's out on the rug last night though and i'm worried in case either of these bugs can affect our piggies. Has anybody any idea? Going to phone the doctor this morning to get him in and see what it is :(

I'm no expert but my lad got chicken pox last year. As far as i know chic pox only gets itchy when the pox spots start so scab over and go. I think thats whet my boy was like.
No idea about it transfering to the gp's though. Sorry. :)

thanks darkest.dreaming, maybe it's measles then - can't phone the docs until 8.30 but worried about the piggies. Think we'll leave them alone for a bit until i find out O0

you just never know do you, just be extra cautious when washing before and after touching them or their stuff and keep your son away better safe then sorry, nver heard of it though,

Never heard of piggies catching them, but I guess others don't handle their pets when they have them? ;)

Hope he gets well soon!

xx

Thanks everyone, been to the docs and he's got a virus which his system has reacted against and he's come out in a viral rash ? He said it's possible it could be really mild measles but either way it will clear up on it's own. As my little one is only 4 he doesn't really understand why he can't get the piggies out so i think we're going to have a few tantrums over the next few days - but better safe than sorry like michellemuffin says ;)

Thanks for everything :)

Glad he's ok. Ah the tantrums, fun arn't they! ::) My boy has hit the terrible twos, does it get better or worse at four? ;D

ermmm, a bit hard to say really. Better I think (it's funny how quickly you forget though, or it could just be loss of sanity after 4 years! only joking!) They don't last half so long now as he has more of an understanding and a bit of a sense of reasoning if you explain things. I do get told that I speak to him like he's much older though, but I think maybe it helps a bit! I've explained to him that he can't really play with Lucy and Rebecca until he's better as we don't want them to be poorly too and he seems to be ok with it so far, he's doing some printing at the moment so he's occupied though! ::)
