When I was younger, around 5, I was bought by my parents a pet rabbit and a pet guine pig, the rabbit was called daisy and the guinea pig was called ginger, he was indeed ginger coloured and the sweetest little thing in the world! At this point I wasn't aware guineas and rabbits shouldn't reaaaally live together, but as it happened the rabbit was nasty anyway. She bit, so we had her rehomed, and rescued a friend for ginger called Tom, a gorgeous long haired guinea pig!

Well that was it the start of an amazing friendship, they were the best of friends for 7 year! Sadly ginger passed away, but Tom lived happily on his own to the ripe old age of 8 and a half! Anyway the pictures I had of them were on an old mobile phone that I lost ages ago, but I found this one of me and Tom in the loft not so long back.

If anyone else wants to post a photo of their childhood guineapigs in the thread then feel free as I'd love to see!

Thanks for sharing that with us. Gorgeous photo x)

Aw thanks everyone he was a charming old man if I do say so myself! Always got a wonky haircut off of me and my dad in the summer too hahah!

This was Wuschel (you'd call him Tousles), the family piggy who lived to nearly 10 years old in the seventies. In the picture he is about 7 years old.

And this is Strolch (Rascal), my first own piggy when I was a teenager in the eighties. My sister had his two companions (one died aged two and Strolch couldn't bear being alone, so we got him a new wife quickly)

In a strange twist of fate I rehomed a pair of sisters Tesni and Ffwlbri two years ago because Tesni was looking like Wuschel; they had been stuck in rescue for several months.

Imagine my surprise when Tesni had a little surprise baby (without any signs of being pregnant) only 10 days after her arrival. And little Tegan Syndod had more than a passing likeness to Strolch!

Lovely piggies. I only had one pig as a child, living with my rabbit before we realised such things were a bad idea. I have no photos of him but he was called Stormy and was all black with a few rosettes. In my early twenties I had lots of guinea pigs. The oldest lived until she was 7.5 & was called Fluffy (not very original lol)

The second oldest was actually her daughter called Creme (again not very original :))) She was nearly 7.

Here are some of my other girls too. Sorry the pics aren't great but this was mid '80's.
