Children and animals!

Is anyone else experiencing an influx of younger house guests for the summer holidays who are tricky to manage around piggies? We have 2 little human boys here, a 7 year old natural piggy whisperer who loves and respects piggies and wants to spend all his time with them (he volunteered to clean the toilet tray today, and all the piggies melt into relaxed double chooken closed eyes fluff balls when he strokes them! He's half south american and loves all animals but the piggies and him have a special thing) but also his 4 year old brother who geys bored easily and demands to know why the piggies wont do as they are told and spends a lot of time on the naughty step when piggies are around. I read all the children and guinea pig interaction guides, but really difficult to juggle a natural piggy slave and a hyperactive younger kid who is too young and easily distracted to care!
 
@PigglePuggle I'd try to put the younger boy off pigs so he doesn't want to interact with them. He'll want to play with his toys instead.

Lucky you! Of course we have to treat both kids the same and love them both the same but... one is an angel child and the other is an absolute terror. Fortunately demon child is taking a nap right now so his lovely big brother can enjoy some quality piggy cuddles :)

I had Lucifer's child (Tom) from the age of 18 months to 4 and a half until he settled in at school. He is extremely intelligent (passed Maths GCSE A* at 14) and it was frustration that made him behave so badly. May be your "demon child" is the same!

Yes, "demon child" starts school in september so it's that frustrating "counting the days until he gets properly socialised and educated" summer! Though he did bite his new teacher and draw blood when he met her at the school taster day so he might just be a demon... he's possibly on the Aspergers spectrum but he's too young to get a proper diagnosis- very clever, but no idea why it isnt ok to bite people, and he refers to all people and animals except himself as "it"...
 
"Demon child" was much better suited to the animals we met at the community farm this morning, he kissed a sheep and befriended a giant billy goat (they head butted each other) and saw a cow do a wee :)
