Hi! :)
I bought my guinea pigs some new hides without checking the type of wood they were made of.
Can guinea pigs eat wood from China Fir Trees?

I’m pretty sure china fir is safe for rodents. :)
Thank you. :)
I wasn't really sure. I read a few articles stating that Fir Trees are not safe for piggies, but I believe that China Fir Trees are there own specific group (not associated with the general "fir group").

Hi! :)
I just wanted to know if anyone else knows if this wood is safe. :)
I bought a standard hide as well as a bendy bridge, but I am still concerned as to whether or not China Fir Tree wood is safe.
Any thoughts?

DO they chew and ingest a lot?
Is it solid wood or one of the wood composites?
Both of these will make a difference to the safety to be honest.

Maybe if you post a link to the hide it would be easier for us to advise you.
Thank you!
I actually haven't put in the hide yet. I wanted to be 100% sure that the wood was safe before having the piglets chew on it.
It is SUPER late here.
I can't find a link that has all of the information! :)
Here is what the bag says:
This chew toy (the bendy bridge) is made from all-natural, china-fir trees which provide a durable and strong chewing surface that helps wear down growing teeth.
  • Provides healthy activity and shelter
  • Great for hamsters, gerbils, mice, rats, and other small animals
  • Made from all-natural, china-fir trees for productive chewing

Is it this one? I actually have two of these and have never had issues with either. :)
