About a week or so ago I got a new chinchilla. Her owners were 'getting rid' of her even though they knew she was pregnant :( daddy chin had already been sold when I got there.

She gave birth yesterday to two beautiful beige babies, a boy and a girl we think. Marley is the smaller one on the left and Mia is the larger kit

awwwwwwww what sweetie piesx) They are adorable, what are you planning to do with Marley? Can you neauter chins? (ive never owned one as you can tell :)) ) gorgeous!

Yes they can be neutered, it is a bit sad though because he will have to be on his own from 8 weeks old to 6 months old as that is the earliest they can be neutered :( so I am hoping that I am wrong and he is a girl!

Oh wow. I never knew chins could be neutered thats great!

Awwww :( I'll keep my fingers crossed hopefully hes a little girl! :) Could he still be kept side by side to his mummy and sister though? They are the most cutest little fluffballs i have ever seen! :)

thank you drool they kind of look like baby guinea pigs :)) yeah I'll keep him side by side to his mummy, poor girl this is her third litter and all the others and the daddy have been taken from her :0 I hope she knows she can keep these little babas

Congratualtions! they are gorgeous!
I really hope he's a girl! Be careful if you keep them side by side as ive heard they can get pregnant through the bars! Not sure how true this is though as it was on a random breeding website ?/

?/ I guess it's possible if the boy is very acrobatic. Thanks I'll keep a little distance just to be on the safe side

Good idea, I personally dont see how it could happen but you never know! I have one chin and he is abit of an acrobatic nutter so i suppose it may be possible :))

awwwwww! i love chinichillas! i would love some but i cannot afford them :(

They are very cheap to 'run' but the price of the chinnies and the cages is very expensive! I got my first pair, Holly and Cracker, from Chins R Us rescue in Leeds and Linda who runs the rescue has been supporting me through Una's pregnancy and birth, she is lovely, I would thoroughly recommend Chins R Us if you are thinking of it ;)

Oh congratulation!

I definitely didn't have a good experience with Chinchillas before though, especially if you let them run around after their dustbath - You'll have a beach! mallethead

They're really adorable though, but I guess Guineapigs are more for me :p

They're adorable :)

I'm getting a baby chin soon :) I can't wait! Then hopefully soon after that I'll be getting her a friend, :)

Absolutely beautiful babies x)

I will definitely get a friend, just as soon as I can find one from a good breeder :) I'm getting the baby from a friend who has them :)

She said the mother is a champagne/beige colour, and the babies are grey but with a champagne tint, lol. I don't really mind :)) The mother is a beautiful colour, the babies are more like the standard colour.

I'm so looking forward to it, I've done all my research, and getting her hopefully friday week! :)

oo they sound gorgeous, all chinchillas are beautiful though :)) I would love a white one, but my favourite colour is the standard grey.

I think Linda at Chins R Us has babies at the minute, or there are a lot of breeders on the Chins R Us forum.

It is so exciting, I love chinnies :<>

I love the white ones too :)

I live in Ireland so chinchillas are hard to find. Well they're in pet shops, but I don't want to go to a pet shop. I never hear of any in rescue, but will keep checking for ones being rehomed on free ads sites and for breeders :)

Haha! There was a case at the RSPCA center that I volunteered at where a male rabbit managed to impregnate the girls either side of him through the mesh of the run! The shed had runs built down the side, and the rabbits could interact with their neighbours when they were out. I don't think the staff imagined *that* sort of interaction!

:D

Those babies are adorable! I've always wanted chinchillas! :)

x)x)x) ickle stunners xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
