After so many years of keeping piggies I have finally heard a piggy of my own chirping. Ive heard it in clips and on you tube, but never heard it from one of mine.

Then suddenly this morning our own Fudge - who is utterly silent unless you go to pick her up and then she sounds like a guinea pig distress alarm - sat chirping in her pigloo for several minutes. It was such a mystical sound that it drew us all in to the dining room in silence. All the other piggies sat in a trance listening to her chirping away. Then all of a sudden it stopped and she carried on eating her romaine leaf as if nothing had ever happened! The others took longer to recommence chomping activities.

It felt like a totally surreal experience

Wow what an experience! It is such a mystery as to why they do it.

At first the OH thought we had a bird in the house. Was amazing how the others all stopped to listen.

If I play clips of guinea pigs chirping, mine run to hide. It is very strange.

Could use it as a threat when they go ransacking the house during carpet Time :tu:
