So just to add to the weird phenomenon of spooky piggy chirping, last night about half an hour before that huge storm broke, I woke up and heard chirping... is it a bird? Is it a piggy? Then suddenly they were ALL chirping, I could hear Tallulah chirping from one room and the others chirping back from the next room... went downstairs to check and they were all awake and running round like they were waiting for something to happen, not scared really just waiting on high alert sniffing the air and fluffed up...
The spider was at it too, not chirping obviously but bristling and standing on her hidey log grooming herself like she could feel the electricity building up...
Once the rain started they all went back to normal! Spooky piggy and spider senses :)

Haha, maybe they just want their midnight greens.

Seriously through this might just be a coincidence but that wouldn’t exactly explain the midnight chirping. Your guinea pigs might have spider senses.

@PigglePuggle piggies always want their greens! The yare known for their lack of respect for conventional feeding times :))

Actually more animals than you might think can sense mild electrical variations, I have a (fairly mad) colleague who does research into "invisible fences" that create a mild electric field between 2 devices that isnt enough to give an electric shock, just enough to give a weird static feeling in the whiskers and fur that animals dont like so they wont go across... she's had a lot of success with reindeer and is expanding it to badgers to help stop them coming into conflict with cattle farmers!

I think mine knew something was going to happen. I was still up when our storm started but the piggies were very allert and unsettled about 30 minutes before, this was at a time after veggies when they would normally be sleeping. No chirping though!

My cat always knew when there was going to be a storm, she used to fluff herself up and run around in circles very aggitated for a few hours before it started.
