Freddy chirped like a bird for ages this morning. I recorded him but can’t put it on. The others GP seemed less than impressed and stayed in her hidey.

My one girl did this ages ago in the middle of the night for no apparent reason. Completely freaked both her sister and me out. Its an incredibly rare behaviour and you lucky you caught it. In 9 years of owning piggies I've only ever heard it once. Rosie had never done it before that night and has done it since.

Strange little creatures :xd:

My boar Tom did this afew days after he was bonded with his boar friend Parsley about a year ago.It lasted about a minute. Its an odd sound from a guinea pig.I didn't feel he was particularly stressed,The bond was textbook and the two of them seemed to be getting on very well.

I wonder if the noise is due to positive or negative excitement.

No one knows why piggies chirp, it is a rare sound

No one knows why pigs do it. I have seen Widget go from walking round the cage to stopping and beginning to chirp then afterwards go off and eat some food with nothing upsetting or startling her - very strange. I think she is communicating with the MotherShip :))

We dont have the bandwidth to store host videos so you'd have to upload to YouTube then embed a link across

It's a mystery sound... I have heard past pigs chirp occasionally. I could never figure out why, but the other pig definitely seemed to listen!

I love chirping so much, I hear it fairly frequently in my house but it still takes me by surprise and awe every time.

I don't care what people say, I don't think it's because they're sad/stressed. As Sport Billy said, I also believe they're contacting the mother ship! Please fasten your seatbelts and prepare for a hostile take over ladies and gentlemen.
