On Sunday my fiancée and I noticed one of our piggies, Choji, was off her food. We took her to the vet who said she had an impaction in her stomach and though they tried to get her going again, in the end they couldn’t help her and we had to have her p.t.s. In the space of 12 hours we lost a member of our family and we are utterly devastated.
We miss you so much and our hearts ache without you here. We still look over to the cage and expect to see your little face pop up. You didn’t have the best start in life, we rescued you 14 months ago, when you were 6 months old having been abandoned and being severely mal-nourished.
You were so skittish and scared, but over time you let us love you and I think you loved us back. You stayed up for hugs and always gave so many kisses. You were a timid little thing and never peed or pooed on us once. Once you’d learned to trust us, you were the happiest little squeaker and you talked away for ages, telling us all your news. You used to curl up under your Mummy’s chin and just snooze away, cradled like a baby. Choji means ‘butterfly’ in Japanese and you really did become a beautiful little piggy.
Your sisters Merry(crested), Pippin (blonde) and the youngest Penny (white with orange face) miss you so very much. Especially, Penny who keeps looking for you and doesn’t quite know what’s happened or where you’ve gone. But don’t worry Pippin and Merry are playing with her for you and she will be ok.
We thought we had many years of cuddles left, but it wasn’t to be. We hope you like your spot in the garden with all the grass at your disposal and that Mummy’s scarf is keeping you warm. We hope you were happy in the short time you were with us and know that we will never forget you. Sleep tight Choji-Beau. We love you so very much. Fly on little wing. x
