So my guinea pig keeps doing the motion where its like she is choking or something is stuck in her teeth. Not coughing, theres no sound when she does this. She also paws at her mouth wen doing this motion. I see her do this at least once a day but i assume she could be doing it more as they are outside and so i don’t see them all of the time. The only other time i have seen this is when my other pig got a treat stuck in his tooth, it luckily came flying out though. I would firstly assume problems with the back teeth but wanted others opinions. Has this happened to anyone gpigs before and what was the problem?

They need a vet visit to check out their teeth could be a dental issue by sounds of it starting - are they doing it when eating?

Sometimes its after eating but other times she wont even be near food and will do it, unless she had been eating hay at those points but I'm unsure.

I forgot to add that i was going to take her to the vet this week anyway but just wanted to see what others thought. Also she hasn’t lost any weight but as you say it could just be the beginning of a problem.

Please let us know how you get on
