Sp i am thinking of breeding my sow but i would like to know if there is anything special i have to look for when choosing a mate for the sows or does it not really matter which male i choose?

I have read one of the groups will not give advice on this but those who know more than i do please help and new guinea pig owner out,as all the research i have done didnt saying anything about this sort of thing and i just want to do right by by cavy and whats best for them..

Thanks all :)

I'm afraid you're in the wrong place if you want advice about breeding guinea pigs. This is a pro rescue forum and does not discuss breeding, please read the forum rules.
I don't know what it's like in Spain but there are hundreds of guinea pigs in rescue across the country looking for homes.

Hi @Katiepops yes I'm new to this site and yes i have read the rules.. i am just after helpful advice i am not going to do anything with breeding as i have had my guinea´s a short while and i want them to be settled in before anything of any sort happpens, this is why I'm asking the questions that i am asking cos i want to make sure i do things right if eventually things happens...here in spain guinea pigs are well loved animals as many parents love them more than the kids...

We also love our piggies as much as our children - which is why we would not risk their lives by breeding from them. Please respect the forum rules and refrain from asking any further questions on breeding.

If you have NO knowledge, keep away ! Even the most experienced owners who have a pregnant sow needs to be totally aware of any problems that can happen during delivery etc. Many will have a reputable vet at hand should there be complications.
I have 13 sows and they will never be allowed anywhere near any of my boars.

Sorry, but you do not appear to really be a suitable owner in my eyes as lack of experience is placing your girls life at risk if you allow her to become pregnant ?/
I love my piggies far too much to ever put them at risk and that IS what is best for them.

thanks for your reply much appreciated and your answer is more of a reply that i was looking for because i am so new to guinea pigs and i dont have any boars and wont be getting any anytime soon as i am happy with just my two little girls
