My boy passed at 5 this morning after a short illness. We’re all so upset and shocked by it, it’s difficult to process yet. I suppose I can take some solace in the fact he died peacefully in my arms.

When I first saw you and your wee pal at the pet shop I first had no intention of buying Guinea pigs. I’d never “owned” one before and to be quite honest, I’d never really given them much thought. How all that changed when I saw you and held you for the first time. That handsome wee face looking up at me was impossible to say no to. What a joy it has been being your Dad over these 2 and a half years, a bundle of joy who always put a smile on all our faces. I just hope I gave you the best life possible.

Rest easy Ciccio, we’ll always love you.

I am sorry for your loss. Ciccio looks a lovely little chap. Even a shorter life with peace and love around is a win compared to a long life without it. I am sure you gave him that. Take care.

I am ever so sorry that your gorgeous chubby boy hasn't made it. It's not your fault and certainly not because of your lack of effort. You haven't failed Ciccio and have done everything you should and could. Ciccio has made his journey to the Bridge carried by the wings of your love.

We can only ever give our beloved piggies what they want from their life: happy todays in good care. As long as we give them those, we are not failing them. When, in which form and under which circumstances the end comes is never in our control. Pets are a gift on a loan that can be cancelled at any time but our love and care does transcend time and make a life count.
