My lovely little Cinnabar has a parasitic / fungal infestation :...

Quite a heavy dandruff seems to have appeared very quickly and the individual hairs can be tugged out whole, complete with scurf on the end, which points to a fungal infection. But... she has a little bald patch on her back (about the same size as a thumb nail) where the hairs seem to be broken off half way, which points to a parasitic infestation...

Oh, how could this have happened! rolleyes

Cinnabar, and the six other pigs she lives with, are checked and brushed regularly and are up to date on their Panacur / Ivomec injection fluid drops. None of the other pigs show any symptoms, just my little girl!

So... I know what I'll be doing tomorrow... bathing... cleaning their living quarters... and they are due for their routine medication in a couple of weeks, but I think I'll bring it forward...

I'm gutted that this could have happened.

These things happen Charlotte, no point in fretting too much about that. You look after your gang brilliantly, there really is nothing you could have done to prevent anything like this cropping up! Treating for fungal and parasitic will of course cover both bases and clear it up quickly if it is either one of those.
