I'm going to build a cage which is a two teir. The bottom being a 3x5 and the top being a 2x5. ive decided to put the top one smaller so i can have space to put my arms in to pick the piggies up and also give them some light. What i want to know is if you have a similar setup how do you find cleaning it out? I can't see me being able to clean it properly in a small gap.
Saying that ive never seen it so it may be fine.
Any ideas?

Well, my top level sits on 1" thick MDF but it is way bigger than your 2nd level will be so if you did something similar, you could just lift the whole thing off?!

With mine, the lower level cages have correx so I slide this forward and clean it that way but I still have to crawl in to sweep the back properly :(|)

You dont have to, I did it that way as with the weight of the aubiose etc and 3 pigs I didnt want to chance it! But if you had some wood lying around a bit bigger than the upper level you want to make, you could sit the upper level on it :))

I will hunt out a pic so you can see what I mean. It just may be easier for you to clean I thought :{

Here is one...so you can see the MDF sits across the bottom cages and is about 2-3 inches too long either side then the top level sits on top (it doesnt have to be MDF, any wood would do..) Obviously, my cages are separate but you could still have a ramp in yours..yours would be on a smaller scale as your upper level is part of their cage...hope it makes sense

Of course, you could use grids, but I did that (when I had less pigs rolleyes) and I didnt feel it was that stable and it would come apart here and there. it was mostly held together with cable ties!

i see now thats great idea. mine would be abit like yours as the top and bottom would be totally separate. i dont want the piggys on the bottom getting onto the top its like two separate cages.
I see you have three seprate cage on the bottom, i wont have that so would the wood still balance without causin to much strain on the side? if that makes sence?
thanks every so much for the pics realli helps :)

You would have to support it in the middle with a grid on its side attached to one of the back grids, otherwise it may bow and not be stable enough :)
