Hey guys,

I don't know if Cally's penis is normal or not, I understand they can get this white stuff build up and it's suppose to be cleaned off, but when I pull his penis out it doesn't look like the other pigs, the outer skin (before the actual penis appears) is covered in sticky white stuff (not clay like stuff that sits around the penis) it's more like flem... anyhow, all the skin BEFORE you reach the penis is bobbly, like lots of little bits of skin hanging off, it's hard to explain.

I found this
A Cauliflower Willy might only be better described as a Frilly Willy. Cauliflower Willys come in all ‘shapes’ and ‘sizes’ and are frilly to different degrees. Whilst the genital opening in a ‘normal’ boar is neat and ‘clean’ a Cauliflower Willy consists of folds of skin around the ‘head’ to varying degrees. Cauliflower Willy is more difficult to keep clean (though not difficult) and the Penis is sometimes visible meaning cleanliness is extra specially important.

Do you think this is what I'm looking at so it's normal? I think perhaps he's a tiny bit inflamed. Whats the softest way to clean it, bare fingers and warm water?

I've not heard of this.... I would have said bathing in warm water yes.

Perhaps a check at the vets would put your mind at ease atlho I know it is not cheap?

Boys & their willies!

You could ring the vet and ask how much a small animal consultation costs- my vets charge £17.56 inc vat - there is a thread on here with pictures of a frilly willy - a couple of peoples on heres boars have them - I think one of Amanda's might have a frilly willy (apologies Amanda if I am mistaken)

My Frankie has a cauliflower willy! Because of it's odd size I do find that bits of hay and various other things get stuck up there. I clean him very gently with a cotton wool bud and some baby oil.

Cauliflower willies are normal, but obviously the inflammation is a bit of a concern.

My Harvey also has a cauliflower willy, to be honest it sounds to me more like your cally just has a lot of skin on his foreskin. There is a piggy i look after at work and he has an awful lot of skin down there and it does result in his having a rather lot of smegma & wetness there. I think it's where urine gets trapped in the folds. A cauliflower willy tends to be where the head of the penis is flattened out and can't go back in. I could take a photo of Harvey (as 'orrible as it is) to show you for comparison if you like?

Hi, I would appreciate it. We're just deciding when we can take Cally to the vets because I get him treated by my rodentologist and the vet gets a bit uppy about it, we go the vets when we need medication we can't get from the rodentologist... Last time she said, I wish you'd come to me first and I'm like... i trust my rodentologist and he doesn't charge lol... I think it's most possibly normal, I mean I think right now, it's got too much white stuff but I'm not religious about cleaning them out which I need to start doing but yes, he seems to have a lot of skin, to the point I have to pull it back over so he goes back to normal... His penis is usually out most of the time which may be why it's a bit red perhaps...

Are there any signs to when a pig might not be urinating? Cally can be held for a hour or so before he actually pees so holding him till then isn't too easy. x
