As a newbie, and having no newspapers in the house! ::) How do I get all the wee and poo marks of the bottom of Zippy and Georgie's cage. I have tried the cage cleaning spray from petshops. Scrubbing with a hard nylon brush and STILL the stains are there! 98) BTW I use a thick layer of ecobed cardboard squares in the cage and meadow hay in the hidey house, plus hay in a hay rack.

White vinegar sometimes does the trick - maybe you could give that a try. Also, how often do you clean them out? Maybe an extra clean a week would help minimise the stains in the first place?

Welcome to the forum, by the way!

Thanks Beaney, will get some vinegar tomorrow and give it a try!
I do a quick clean every second day, scrap out the poo and wet cardboard, spray and wipe and a thorough clean once a week.

Vinegar is fine to remove stains but make sure you also use an animal disinfectant like Trigene as vinegar doesn't kill all the nasty bugs and bacteria.

Errrrrmmm where would I buy Trigene, dont remember seeing that at P@H. :embarassed: Sorry for the dumb questions, I am more used to ratties!

I use keep it clean which is a disinfectant/cleaner and stops odour from pee i put that in the bottom of the cage before laying the towels down, clean out once a week with vinegar, and i use a normal disinfectant like zoflora which at 1:40 parts is safe for animals to walk on etc..but it all gets washed off..

Mine get a thorough clean out twice a week using cage disinfectant but I still get the marks at the bottom. Going to give the vinegar a go and see if that does any better. O0
