Hey, I have one pig (Alby), he isn't more than 2 years old, and not a very big breed. So you can say he's pretty much an adult, but not very grown up.
I usually only eyeball it to see if maybe his cage needs cleaning or not. (I do make it a habit to clean it at least weekly though.) I still have questions on cleaning because, even after my search through the threads and online, I still don't know the exact way or amount I should be cleaning my cage.
I actually have two cages. Both on wheels but one is a lot smaller than the other. (one being a two story that's 2 feet wide, and the other being a small travel cage) So, how often should I clean them respectively? Is their specific soap I can use (currently using handheld dish soap)? How do I get the white calcium stuff off the cage? What should I look out for when cleaning it to give me hints at his health? When have I put in too much bedding? Should I let the cages air dry or something else? Should I keep it on a schedule to make Alby more comfortable with being moved?
Any other tips on cleaning, or advice would be much appreciated.

I think most people ‘poo pick’ or sweep daily then do a full clean/change every 5-7 days depending on mess. If disposable bedding like shavings, you can pick out the wet patches and replace with more. Then a complete change once a week. You can clean the bottom with vinegar - diluted in water with a splash of washing up liquid. F10 is also a good cleaner to have to hand for maybe once a month. What bedding do you use?

How long are the cages? He really does need a minimum of 120x60cm, or 8 square feet. You also have to be careful about steep ramps. Piggies are ground roaming, so the lower floor needs to meet the minimum. Upper floors don’t count I’m afraid.

We’d love some pictures. 😊
