my della loves to sit in her wee puddles! and obviously this causes her to have a wee stained bum pretty much 24/7.. i dont want to keep ‘bathing’ her (literally just a mixing bowl filled with warmish water, pop her in for two minutes, using water over her backend to clean her up then dry off) and be another cause for stress but i want to keep her as clean as possible to prevent any problems like utis! is there anything i can do?

@Qualcast&Flymo said they use CLX wipes in a thread a little bit ago. But they also added that they were expensive, they may have a bit more insight to such.

I used to use a just a face cloth in warm water whenever my boys got messy, but if it is basically daily I can understand your concern.
Muslinz wipes were also mentioned in the thread, I might as well just attach it, you can always have a read through it - Wipes

thankyou!

do you know if its safe for me to keep using water on her bum? i don’t want to irritate her skin or make her loose any oils or anything but i’m having to wipe her with wet cotton pads daily because shes SO dirty!

I know in guinea pigs with little to no mobility and in older pigs "bum baths" can be a daily thing, there is a little section about this in the forums bathing guide.
I could not tell you exactly whether it will have an effect on her or not but as it is needed I think it is a risk you have to take.
And just plain water should hopefully be less harmful on the skin.

Have you looked into vet bed for your girl? I have no experience with it but I know it works well for piggies with issues like this.
I know your girl is not immobile but there is a section that mentions keeping such a piggy clean and safe - Looking After Guinea Pigs With Limited or No Mobility

thanks so much!

its not so much the bedding shes on, we’ve put a hay cube in there and shes taken a huge liking to it so just curls up in there and obviously doesn’t get out to wee! normally shes not too bad hence why i haven’t got any different bedding yet..

what sorry? her dirty bum?
Yes, I know one (or both?) of your piggies is/were having some issues health wise. So I was wondering if this was a long standing thing or just recently.

Or perhaps it is unrelated at all. It wouldn’t really change anything, I was just wondering if change of circumstance was making an issue.

yes so she was getting a slightly dirty bum when she had she UTI but this is different this is all over her back end like shes sat in it if that makes sense? like staining her fur underneath whereas before it wasn’t getting everywhere she was just slightly wet / leaking

She’s just too cute

I think you’ll just have to go ahead with daily wipe downs with just warm water and then if it continues for say a couple more days, maybe think about adding some sort of absorbent layer into her hay cube.

thats a good idea! thankyou!

I used scent free, water based baby wipes for Priscilla who, being long haired, frequently needed her bum wiped.
