Hi! I'm new to Guinea Pig care (I just recently got my first ones from a friend of mine), and I'm a little concerned about the noise one of them is making.

Every now and then, especially when they're eating, I will hear that one make what I can only describe as a clicking noise. If you have ever heard a clicker (the ones they use for dogs), that's exactly what it sounds like.

My friend says I shouldn't worry about it because according to him the piggies will do that when they drink water they might've kicked dirt into, but upon researching and looking at countless videos, I have found zero information on the topic (neither good nor bad, just something that is not mentioned at all).

Can anyone please tell me if this is normal or if I should be worried about it? :( Thanks!

Guinea pigs have very narrow airways so the slightest bit of dust (hay dust, wood shavings dust etc) can cause noises in their breathing. Also if they eat too fast it can sometimes cause them to cough or sneeze. However, anything that may be affecting their breathing ought to be checked out by a vet to be safe
