Clostridial Enterotoxicosis In Guinea Pigs.

Ok idk where to go or look but my guineapig fluffy just ate a BANDAID and just had massive diarrhoea and is way more vocal than usual and idk what to do plss help me!
Can you start a seperate thread, you will get some responses then. You do need to see a vet though if she has diarrhoea.

My roommate says i should wait to see if she really is acting strange and just pay close attention to her and wait to see a vet I'm just so worried

Just found it online.
Is it something only to be given along side antibiotics? Or can it safely be used without them? I.e just to give them a little helping hand?
Thank you

You can give fibreplex independently or alongside an antibiotic; they don't interfere as long as you do not give them alongside, but sapce 1-2 hours apart. Fibreplex is a stronger digestive support than just plain probiotics (hence why it is quite a bit more expensive). But it can help with getting the digestion back on track after it has been totally wiped out by an antibiotic or of a piggy has ongoing digestive issues.

Please open your own thread by clicking on this link here: Health & Illness and then on the big thread starter button on the right. We cannot discuss two different problems by two people in the same thread without causing major confusion, especially as the other issue is rather specialist.

Keep your guinea pig under observation for 24 hours and see a vet promptly if it suddenly looks off. Look up out-of-hours services in your area, so you know where to turn to in an emergency.

Hi Janice, I am ok, all other piggies are looking well this morning. I'm going to get some Fibreplex to be on the safe side. Not managed to get in touch with her yet, will probably have to be Monday now!
3 In one week takes a massive toll on your heart :(
xx

Hi everyone. Just been and checked pigs again, noticed one of my other older boars has URI. Have given very small dose of Baytril, hoping we may have caught him early enough as he's not off his food/water and he's acting totally normal other than the crackle in his chest! Will be speaking/seeing vet in the morning when they're open again!
:(

Sending bucket loads of healing vibes for your boy. Glad you noticed he was ill so quickly.

Crackling noise when he breathes seems to have gone now!! Think we may have caught it early enough to save him! Everyone is still on VERY close watch. Thank you everyone for your kind words!
