Cloudy eye

My guinea pigs left eye has gone kinda misty and idk whether to take her to the vet or not. The same thing happened to another of my pigs a few years ago but it recovered within
few weeks. Advice?


I know it looks like it's just a trick of the camera flash but trust me it's not. I noticed it earlier today and I'm pretty worried about her

HI! any eye injury needs to be seen promptly by a vet as they can deteriorate very quickly. A vet uses a special dye to assess the full extent damage, which can often not be seen with the naked eye. Hay pokes and hay sruck under a lid are fairly common problems, but if left untreated, they can lead to permanent changes in the eye or at the worst, requiring an eye removal operation.

Please feed any stalky hay in a in a hay rack and have softer meadow or orchard hay for them to burrow and play in.

She needs a vet.
When one of my piggies eye went cloudy it was due to a haypoke. He had to have dye administered so the vet could check that no further hay strands or grass seeds were still inside. He then had to have a week’s worth of antibiotics to cure the ulcer which had formed within a matter of a few hours.
