So as some of you may know (if you saw my new piggies thread) I've only had my girls a week and took them to the vet and she thinks Clover (Tri-colour girl) has a fungal infection (if not she said it may be conjunctivitis but highly doubts it), it's above one eye.

She took some samples to culture before prescribing me meds for her and has given me a cream to use in the mean time.

She told me not to separate them because Berry shows no signs of it, and once the culture is confirmed she will check if Berry has symptoms (if so give meds to both, if not just Clover).

Just wondering if anyone else dealt with this and if you separated the piggies?

I feel so downtrodden as I'm really trying to take the best care possible of them.

Hi, sorry for the delay, a few of us have not been around today. It sounds like your vet suspects Ringworm if she has taken a culture (Ringworm is the only type of fungal that will culture). Is the medication she is considering Itrafungol? What cream do you have in the meantime?

To be honest they have been together up to now so I would not separate but be prepared to treat both pigs if needed. You could give a round of Imaverol (Enilconazole) dips as a precaution, and these could be used on your infected pig too in addition to the oral the meds the vet will give you. I can give you the link once you have a firm diagnosis.

Here is our Ringworm guide which goes through the different stages.

The cream she gave me is called Isathal, she didn't say which medication she'll prescribe if it is ringworm.

Berry still hasn't got any symptoms but Clover's is getting slightly worse, I called today but the results aren't back yet.

Thank you, I'll read that! :)

Isathal is an eye drop I think, usually used when they have an eye injury like a hay poke. Used to be called Fucithalmic.
