My little Clover passed away last Thursday while we were away on holiday in Scotland. She had shown no signs of illness apart from a general slowing down, but apparently she faded gently away over a couple of days. The friend looking after Clover and Parsley has had piggies herself and did all the right things: a vet's appointment was made but Clover passed quietly away without showing any signs of pain or distress beforehand. She is buried in their garden alongside two other piggies and several hamsters.

So now Parsley is an only pig: I intend to get him neutered once he's had a bit of time to get over losing Clover (though he seems fine already and is eating and wheeking well) and then get him a little friend.

Goodbye my little flower: I'm sorry I couldn't give you a final cuddle.

I am sorry for your loss; it's always hard for everybody involved when you can't be there yourself.

Best of luck with Parsley. You only need to have him neutered if you want to introduce him to a girl or two; if you'd rather pair pair him up with a baby boar, neutering is not necessary as it won't change his behaviour, just his ability to reproduce.

Forgot to say - I'm really grateful to Heather, the friend who had the piggies while we were away. She cared for them both so well, and the death of someone else's pet while you're caring for them must be an awful thing to deal with.

Aww bless her, at least someone who loves piggies was with Clover when she passed.
xx

Aww, sorry to hear about Clover. I can understand what you say about someone else looking after another's pet, in circumstances like this. I worry awful and if a pet passed away in my care, I would feel very upset, despite the care and attention gave at the time. It's understandable and it's very good and kind of your friend to have looked after your piggies, as well as being a piggie lover herself. Bless her and your little piggies. RIP Clover. XX
