Sooo I know Harold loves clover so thought I would try growing some. I have little shoots on it already, only planted seeds on Wednesday LOL

Didn't know they could eat clover! mallethead
I've been trying to grow the plantain seeds I saved from the autumn but so far have had no luck germinating them. Will have to try again. inbreeding
White clover is fine, I don't think they're supposed to eat red clover though.

I used Seed and cutting compost. Sprinkled a layer of seeds on top, cover with thin layer of compost, water them cover with a poly bag to keep them warm and moist and leave in a sunny spot indoors. That's exactly what * did and had shoots within a day.

Its high in calcium so i avoid and had it removed from my lawn.Just dont feed too much

I just really try and watch my calcium:phosphorus ratios !
When you have suffered with a piggie and them lost them to bladder stones you just learn what you can and try and be rational over diets mallethead
My garden was a meadow of lush clover with no grass lol! so i got rid of all the clover as i like to be in control of what my piggies eat.
A little bit of lots of types of calcium enriched foods are ok but as its a known problem piggies can suffer with it pays to just be aware.

I agree, I only give clover to our lot as an occasional treat. They get bored with it if they have it more often anyway!

I have a large stock of dried dandelion too if anyone wants some? 75p a bag? I thought about buying clover but I wasn't sure it was good for them.
It's plantains that I can't get to germinate. My piggies love them, they'll probably be a load in the garden over the next few weeks but I had wanted to grow some on the windowsill for them. I do a lot of gardening and germinate a lot of seeds inside because I don't have a green house but there's always something that just doesn't want to sprout for you, no matter how much experience you have! Oh well!

Lol! I bought a big bag for my lot from somewhere online ( can't remember where now ) thinking they'd love them ( because they love the fresh ones ), what was I thinking? That's far too logical for piggies, they didn't touch them! They don't like fresh beetroot but will eat the dried beetroot crunchies I got the other day, talk about fickle! mallethead
