Some of you may know about Coco the guinea pig being very ill and vets not really knowing what to do to help. He sadly passed away last week :bye:. I am just so happy he lived until now we assumed he would have died around September but he just kept going. despite everything he was still as happy and bouncy as always. I went in to feed them all at 1 in the afternoon and went out and when I came back around 3 he was just laid in middle of his run :'(

We also lost a donated piggie at the beginning of the summer too although we expected it (sometimes you can just tell its coming) plus turns out she was at least 7 years old. That loss combined with this one however has not gone down well with the children :/

It means now though we have 1 boy on his own 1 girl on her own and 2 boys together. Do you think eventually I will be able to introduce the boys and they might accept one another? They never have until now but it seems a shame to not try again.

If not they can hear and see one another just not in same runs and cages, any thoughts would be appreciated.

I realise went out sounds like they are outside they are not they are in a separate living room, and run is his run in the house attached to cage :)

If you have a boar duo I wouldn't risk upsetting the bond by putting another in.If you could face it is an ideal opportunity torescue another.Would neutering the boy you have and putting him in with the girl be an option

I am so sorry for your loss. I agree it is best not to add another boar as trios rarely work.

The best option for your remaining piggies would be to keep the existing pair of boys as they are and consider having your single male neutered by a good, experienced and recommended vet so he could be paired with the remaining female piggy.

Boar trios are very unstable and unlikely to work, potentially resulting in 3 angry boys who want nothing to do with each other. Your other options would be to visit a good rescue who could bond your two lone piggies with another of the same sex or a neutered boar in the case of the female. Try our rescue locator at the top of the page to see who's near you and can help and advise. I can highly recommend The Potteries in Kidsgrove, Stoke -on-Trent and I believe they have has a few neutered boars on the look out for homes recently that may suit your girl...

I'm very sorry that for your loss. R.I.P. Coco. xx

I agree with MerryPip, I would get the single male neutered & pair him with your single female.
