Junior Guinea Pig
I havent posted in awhile but I'm back now
|)The weather seems to be getting a lot colder lately, making me worry more about my piggies. I'm sure they keep eachother warm, being there is six of them, they also live free roam in a shed, with access to an outdoor hutch which then leads to a pen for grass! Inside the shed, which is being insulated, there are plenty of big cozies for them, and one corner is filled with hay, where their litter pan is.
We also have this sheet, that goes down the sides, we leave it tied up in summer, but drape it down in winter to block any little drafts. We have also made a little platform, where one part of the shed is lifted of the ground, but not high enough for them to get under, and easily enough for them to climb into the cozies up there. I am hoping with this being off the ground, it will make their cozy area warmer for them.
I think I will fill the small gap with something, perhaps hay? Then lift up the fleece where the cozies are, and put one or two heat pads there, what are all your opinions on this, do you think this will keep them warm in the winter months? Your opinions are appreciated, and any questions you may have.
Also I mentioned I was getting fleece on a previous thread, I know have fleece and a mini vacuum for spot cleaning, it works great! The fleece gets a change over once a week, and is working well for now, although we have to put the washing machine on a rinse afterwards, to get the excess hair out. Sorry this is so long, it won't let me put paragraphs in.:p
