Hi,

I'm aware that hamsters can catch colds from humans, are guinea pigs the same? Can they catch human colds? I'm wondering if I should stay away from them for awhile seeing as I have a cold :(.

Thank you for asking this question. I am curious as to the answer.

I heard somewhere that piggies can get the flu from humans, but I don't know whether that's true.
 
oh I hope its not true as I've got a bad chest infection at the moment, will be interested to know as I constantly have a cold this winter thanks to my college placement in a nursery getting covered in snot each Thursday hehe
 
Hi guys, yes unfortunately piggies can catch colds from humans so wear a mask or get someone else to do all the cleaning out!
 
oh dear best make sure my OH gives them lap time this week until the antibiotics have kicked in and cleared me up
