I have two females, and during the summer they go outside but now as it gets colder they have a pen inside probably around 10ft x 4ft I try and put them in everyday, used to be for two hours but now I can barely make it one due to one of the pigs. The other one is perfectly happy out here and will run around a bit and then go for a nap. She could happily stay here for hours. However her friend.. after about twenty minutes or so lately she starts whining, not wheeking, just complaining, and its not due to the other one annoying her or anything.

They have litter boxes with hay to eat while theyre out and usually get fresh grass or lettuce too, they have cardboard tubes and tunnels to hide in and run through, and blankets to lay on. I try and change the tubes or boxes around a little bit every few days so its not the exact same.

When she gets put back into her cage she stops complaining (she might a little for a few mins after but it dies down). Anyone have a similar experience or idea why? Is she just bored of the run and toys? I feel bad for the other one because she misses out staying out longer because of her friend.. plus its a lot of effort and time getting the run set up everyday (I have health issues) I would be happy to do it if they enjoyed it but she seems like shes hating it now after the first few minutes..

What sort of cage are they in, and is it possible to move it into the run, ie like a Ferplast?

Theyre in an L shape I made from a couple of ferplast plazas so its not possible to move it, I have a small spare cage though but if she wants to go back to *her* cage it wouldnt be enough

It might be, though. Blitzen could be like this too, although he generally would do floor time because Comet would and he didn't like being alone. But just somewhere with a roof, bedding/etc that smells like hers/the cage, and somewhere that's not on the floor directly. She might be more happy with it?

She also might not, I'm no expert on this, I've just seen it happen with my two before.
