Ive had Piglet for about 3 weeks now and I've got too the stage where he will finally let me weigh him without a struggle! (Yay).

However, after weighing Piglet I've become quite concerned. Piglet is about 4 months old and he weighs 400g.

This is where I'm worried. Bubble is just over 7 months old now and is only 490? I'm worried these weights are so close for a 3month age difference.

Bubble eats all of the correct things and is a very vocal, happy boy. So is it possible he's just a small pig? Or is that weight just way too low for his age?

We have 3 pigs all at very different weights but they are different breeds as well, going by the pigs we've had over the years his weight seems a little low but we've had pigs who've been tiny and lived long happy lives, personally i'd be worried if he wasnt eating, squeaking and generally pigging about, just keep an eye on him.

I agree with Nash, all pigs are different, it is if he is losing weight that you need to worry. If you find over the next few months that he is not gaining at all though, then he may need checking over by a vet.

Bubbles is rather low for his age. Please weigh him weekly and if necessary have him checked by a knowledgeable vet. Some piggies are small and will always stay on the smallish side, but there can be another problem like teeth/jaw misalignment or a problem with the nutrient absorption.

My Papi was only 450g when I adopted her at 6 months old and she grew only very slowly (and not at all for a few weeks), but in the end crawled in at just over 800g for her adult weight, which is the lower end of a normal adult range. However, I know of runts who have led a perfectly happy life with only 600g or a bit over as their adult weight. Papi was born to a sow rescued from about as horrible surroundings as imaginable with some inbreeding involved as well.

Don't stress too much about it.I have a sow that is tiny compared to the rest as well..
