Concerned about Ophelia

Bianca was diagnosed with inoperable tumours in July, and we didn’t expect her to still be alive and well so many months later. She’s on a high dosage of painkillers and living her best life. We are increasingly concerned about her sister, however. Ophelia has become very nervous and hides a lot, and isn’t as eager as Bianca for food. Tonight she didn’t come out for vegetables and showed no interest in food until Bianca had finished both bowls (she got food then, and Bianca had to be blocked from stealing it). We will continue to keep an eye on them but we don’t really know if she is ill or if she is scared.

What is also perhaps helpful to mention is that there were a lot of people and a lot of noise these last couple of days.
I’ve watched Ophelia react to the hoover. She first looked and then sprinted off. Possibly because it was loud.

Sounds as if there are several possible reasons for Ophelia’s behaviour.

I think with any change in behaviour it’s worth getting it checked out by the vet to rule out illnesses. Good luck.

There may be something going on but the vet couldn’t identify anything. Because she hides so much, we don’t know how much hay she is actually eating, but her teeth appear to be fine and haven’t occluded her tongue. We have some Reumocam (for Bianca) and so he suggested we give it to her as well to see if it makes a difference.

Ophelia, why do you run away and hide from us now? Why aren’t you excited about food like Bianca is?

She ran away to the top of the ramp and then stared at me for the next five minutes.

Girly, what’s wrong? Is it to do with Bianca?

We’ve been to the vet and there’s nothing wrong with her health.

Bianca has often been named “the friendly one” by people. Poor Ophelia.
