A few month back I'm not sure you will remember but Ditto had a nasty hay poke and i was prescribed fucithalmic eye ointment, it literally took around 2 month to heal and this morning ive been fussing ditto and noticed his eye squinting and 'sinking' again, its a tiny bit discharging just looks like sleep in his eye. Is this just coincidence that hes had another possible hay poke in the same eye as previously or do you think theres an underlying issue here? I'm slightly concerned had it been the other eye id of guessed at another haypoke but with it being same eye again I'm getting curious? Any advice comments?

I would take him to a vet right away as he may be in pain. Poor Ditto. That is bad luck.

It could just be a coincidence that Dito has a hay pike in the same eye. Eliza has had two hay pokes now both in the same eye.

I'd take him to the vet though ASAP for treatment and a proper diagnosis

I'm going to take him monday ive been putting optrex saline wash in the eye to flush any seeds etc out its odd though as theres no redness and i cant see any marks or clouding to the eye like i could last time, ? Thanku

Could be an underlying abcess, vet visit needed.

Eye problems are often complicated and worsen rapidly. The difference between taking him tonight and taking him on Monday could well be the difference between keeping or losing his eye. Eyes usually get better if treated quickly but delaying can cause complications on top of the original problem.

If he's in pain too, you're running the risk of anorexia, bloat etc.

I'd strongly advise seeking veterinary attention tonight rather than waiting. Hopefully it's nothing, but it could be something (if you know what I mean)

As my vet said when my sow had a nasty eye injury - when it comes to the eyes acting promptly gives the best chance possible for recovery - i certainly wouldn't delay when it comes to the eyes.

Your regular vets should have an emergency number that you can call for advice/book an appointment if they feel it necessary.

Let us know how you get on

Hi guys tool ditto to the vet this afternoon and have one thing to say 'waste of time' the young vet looked at dittos eye said oh yes it appears to be a hay poke, i explained how it is the same eye as before and this was concerning me to which she replied it is possible to poke himself in the same eye twice- i replied with i am aware of this but can you please take a closer look to rule out any underlying issues as I'm worried. She said there was no need to stress ditto and advised me to come back if the eye worsens! Thus prolonging pain and healing if it isnt just a hay poke and ripping me off consultation charge wise! She never dyed his eye never checked his teeth or anything! I am not happy I'm taking him to the vets where my mum takes our 2 dogs tomorow after work -

OMG, I can't believe she didn't even use the dye. It is so quick and simple to do! :o Did the vet at least prescribe any eye ointment?

Good job you are getting a second opinion.
