I was cutting my guinea pigs' nails today. I accidentally cut one of Ziggy's nails too short and it bled for a short while. It's been a few hours now and he's spent 99% of the time since in his igloo bed. I keep checking on him. Could it be he's in shock because he's normally more lively than he currently is? Any advice appreciated as I am worried.

yes, he is probably in a little shock. We have all been there. The bleeding has stopped, yes?

Just pop some of his favourite food in. I am sure he will be fine, they don't half worry us at times....

Yes, fortunately the bleeding stopped quite quickly, I applied some damp cotton wool and had him on my lap until it stopped. So true, wish they could talk to us, would make life a heck of a lot easier! I suppose wheeking is their talking

If it makes you feel any better I did nail trims last night and for the first time in years I made a nail bleed, too. It was Violet my old lady grouchy piggy. And it was partly her fault as she kept pulling her feet away and being diva-ish. She was very cross with me at the time, and a little bit shocked. It upset me, too. But like yours it stopped very quickly, and after a few veg treats she seemed fine. Today normal service has been resumed. And it looks like I am forgiven. Ziggy will soon forgive you too x
