I just recently got a guinea pig a week ago. He seemed to be adjusting well enough for the most part. Taking food from my hand, drinking, chuttering when I let him out for floor time. I am concerned though because he has been scratching a decent amount as well as grooming himself. He is young, but he jumps around a lot, I don’t think it is popcorning. He would come out of his hidey more often the first few days but now he just looks sad and scared in his home. He does have a bald patch on his body that I just noticed and he began wincing yesterday while i was holding and petting him in a specific spot. I am trying to find a vet to see him but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas if there is something wrong.

I tagged these two members above to advise you. You will need to see a vet though because we cant diagnose on here. We are not vets. But you can get advice in the meantime. You really need to get your pig a friend when you know he is well enough👍. Welcome to the forum

Welcome and sorry to hear about your piggy's condition.

If you can tell the experts where you got your piggy a week ago, they might have a better idea about how to help you.
Also, would it be possible to ask questions to the person you got your piggy from a week ago?

@britty take him to the vets straight away don’t wait to see if he gets better guniee pigs are most vulnerable at a young age my guniee pig died very young so take him to the vets

Hi and welcome to the forum. Please book your piggy in to see a vet. He may have mites, lice or some infection causing the irritation that needs treatment

I got him at a pet store. I am taking him to see a vet today.
