Vicky(Smudger)

Okay I was in my local pet shop the other day and just happened to be looking at the piggies they had there. I was looking to purchase one for one of our pigs that is on his own, anyway my concern is this.

Most of the boars had that white dryness to their ears, they didnt look that great in coat either but that could have been because they were rex crosses. I didnt get alook at the girls so much.

I am concerned that they are selling pigs that have got fungal on their ears. :-\ I want to go back and advise them but I dont know if they will think I'm interferring ?

Its been worrying me for a couple of days now. I just know how bad fungal problems can get and it doesnt seem right that they should be for sale.

What do you think?

Hi Vicky,

I would advise them, go in and look at the pigs and say I noticed your pigs have some whiteness...blah blah blah I had a pig like that and it was fungal, they should welcome the advice it won't hurt to try. :)

Good luck and hope your little one finds a friend it's heartbreaking to see them on their own.

Louise

Thanks Louise.

I'm gonna go back today, Ive got to its really bothering me.

My little one has got a new friend, I got a youngster from somewhere else, so he isnt lonely anymore.

shias ears are horrendous. they have gone brown, and you can see where bits have just dropped off cos of the fungal, and she has scabs all round her ears

in my opinion no pet should be sold if its even showing slight signs of a health problem. as said before maybe point out to them and see what they say.

Another sad story :'( :'( :'(
Go for it Vicky do it nicely but firmly O0 :)
Honestly these types of people should not be allowed to run pet shops if they handle ill animals or they fall ill at their premises it's downright disgusting >:( >:( >:( >:( :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff:
Thank goodness for people like you Vicky and then Lez in her situation... you guys are wonderful :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

good luck vicky. I'd tell them it looks like theres a dryness, possible fungal to their ears

Popped back in there this afternoon but the person I wanted to talk too wasnt there and I dont know the other members of staff so well. I will pop back tomorrow and see them then.

I either want to see the person who deals with the intake of the guineas or the owner, all the other staff are quite young and I dont think I would get anywhere with them. Plus I have to pick up my parcel of GG products from the post office, so I can show them the products they should use at the same time.

None of the boars had gone, all still sitting in their cage.

Will update on what they say tomorrow.

Oh yes I will certainly. Thats why I really want to speak to the owner.
