I love her long hair but it was crazy long and I'd been putting it off and putting it off because she hates the scissors and she hates the pet clippers even more - but then we had those few hot days and she was sooo subdued even though she's settled now in her trio with George and Flora. So I got everything ready - outside, because the whole world gets covered in itchy hair and I brought her out and sat down. She knew what was happening as soon as she heard the scissors and just sank flat on my knee... this is how she hides because when she does this her hair covers her eyes and she thinks I can't see her!
So I thought, 'just try the clippers - at least it's quicker' but guess what? I'd left the plastic length guard inside the house and I was that stressed by this point that I just went for it. Well it turns out that she doesn't hate the clippers, she hates the feel of the plastic guard pressing against her skin and as I was just sort of waving these things through the cloud of hair trying to leave her about a cm and not making much contact she barely noticed, so reams of the stuff fell off - 3 inches long in places! Not her face whiskers - obvs - or eyebrows. When hubs saw her he was aghast, but actually she came to life and she's really running around now. It's funny but the others didn't bat an eyelid when they saw her. Don't worry sweetheart, it'll grow back 💕

I do love a Piggie clipper transformation! She doesn’t look to bad! In a week once it’s evened out she will look great!

That is a very neat job especially for a piggy who hates being clipped! For future reference, I wrote a guide to all things piggy furdo related. I can't link in on this device, you'll find it under the Daily Care Guides. It's called An Illustrated Guide to Hair Cutting.

You've done a great job @Free Ranger! Louise will feel so much more aerodynamic now. 🏎️

My rainbow bridge piggy Fudge used to scream the place down when we clippered her but used to have a popcorn party afterwards as she felt so much better (she had horrible scurfy greasy fur that nothing worked on asides trimming it right down!). Was just reminiscing about the extra half hour that used to add to monthly "piggy salon" today actually  Excuse the poor job, Fudge clearly wasn't as compliant as either Louise or Stanley...

Great job! I use OH beard trimmer on Posh, it has a guard and she actually doesn’t mind it at all, far easier than scissors

Amazing job, I am just impressed you managed to take as much off as you did as evenly as you did! the hair cuts I give my piggies are... diabolical but they wont sit still for me XD

What clippers do you use? I have a guinea pig who -hates- the scissors and is a whirlwind of a guinea pig, doesn't just try to run away she leaps and does angry popcorns every time I touch her butt or try to take a snip, it's the sound I'm pretty sure so I hum to her while I'm snipping so she can hear it less but its still usually chaos and its terrifying having a guinea pig trying to jump around while you have a hand full of sharp! D: I'd love to try trimmers as I Feel it would be faster if nothing else so the hell can end a lot quicker for both of us

I bought supposedly quiet pet clippers online, for small dogs I think. Not been brave enough to use them yet so not sure if recommended! I typed quiet pet clippers into Amazon.

Can you clipper the hair on their legs? Have a floof with bladder tumour and leakage. Or is that just too tricky.. ?

@Olivitree, just to add my tuppence I first used a Wahl Super Micro which was the perfect size for the piggies and didn't vibrate much but it's no longer sharp due to clipping urine-soaked hair. I bought regular red Wahl pet clippers from Argos and that does fine but it is a little too big to do detail jobs easily. I have used both to clipper the hair on their legs @Black piggies, I have quite a few pigs I give sanitary clips to where I cut their bottom and leg (and sometimes genital... very carefully!) hairs right back so it looks like they are wearing skinny-fit trousers  Works very well on the longer-haired pigs who are absolute little grotbags....
