No guinea pigs were hurt during the making of this tale, the slave is still having palpatations a week on.

One day last week it poured with rain all morning so I gave Spike and Peanut some floor time while I cleaned their cage out. I realised it had stoped raining, I needed to dig up some potatoes for dinner so thought the boys would be alright left alone for a minute. The electrics were covered, I hadn't blocked Willow and Brackens cage off but they were all ignoring each other. I knew the fork was already in the veg patch so I would be really quick digging up one plant. As I walked back through the door I saw Willow doing his mad mop impersonation running round the floor and did a double take - wrong pig! Part of the side of the cage was on the floor, panic, where were the other pigs.
Bracken was in the hidey with Peanut who looked a little worried about this new friend.

Spike was in Willow and Brackens cage, very pleased with himself, he'd found their nuggets! As they are now fully grown S & P only get a few nuggets a day so he's a bit miffed to discover the other's get a large handful in a bowl.

I grabbed the oven gloves and sat quietly watching the dynamics for a while, I didn't want to spook them with my nerves. Peanut relaxed with Bracken,Willow didn't seem to mind Spike eating their nuggets. (those JR Farm grainless are very messy, I put the bowl on a small pad and shake it off outside).

I decided to intervene when all four tried to jump in a small strawberry house together. I was so lucky, they accepted each other even when Spike was in the wrong cage. This mistake could have caused a blood bath. One section of the c&c cage has wire ties rather than cable ties, I take it appart so Willow and Bracken can go in and out as they please for floor time. The day before I had put it back together with the connectors and forgotten the ties, one shove from I suspect Willow and they were out.

Weren't you lucky! That's when I discovered how bloody it could get when Oscar managed to push the side of his cage off and beat up his brother who s quietly munching the grass in the garden!

I was lucky. I knew I had 4 fairly laid back characters, having had a pair of boars in the past who just tolerated each other, I know how volatile boars can be. As lovely as it was to see them getting along I'd not risk it on purpose. I am sorry to hear your two don't get along.

Both very happy now as neutered and have 2 wives each!

Poor Peanut, his default expression is concerned, he is a very quiet boy. Just glad this episode didn't leave him with a more nervous disposition! I think after meeting Willow he considers himself lucky to be living with Spike.

The first thing I double checked before I rehomed Willow and Bracken was their sex, if they had been girls I wouldn't have had them. I was thinking smell upsetting Spike and Peanut though not an escape!
