confused, help please

So last night i came in and checked on my little babies and there was a funny sound comming from one of them i later found out it was like a mating call and they did the dance and everything, when i bought lola i was told shes a girl and she looks like one to me but can this happen?

Also i have had them since last tuesday and they are still very skitish do you think i should have them out more so they get used to me or leave them to it, everytime i go in the room they seem to get worse every day.

It takes time for guinea pigs to settle and learn that you are not scary, and even then they may still be a bit skittish. It is a good idea to spend time around/ near their cage (I used to sit and read a book next to the cage so that the girls learned that me being there didn't mean something terrible was about to happen). If they are in an indoor cage, lay a towel on the top so that they feel they can wander round but still be safe/ less exposed.
I would start handling them every day and build up the length of time. You can make them feel more relaxed by making a pocket out of a towel or fleece so that they can hide whilst on your lap and being stroked. Girl will rumblestrut for dominance, but also when they are in season; then they can even mate on occasion. However, ALWAYS check a piggy's sex upon arrival!

Have you checked sex? If not get someone who knows how to do it. Or pop them to a good vets to get a vet/nurse to do it for you.

As said girls can rumblestrutt at one another, and boys can do similar to show dominance. However its also very similar to what boys will do when they meet or see a girl and its could be you have one of each sex.

Best to sex them asap, so you can make sure you dont get any accidents.
