Hello, I,ve owned guinea pigs for the last twelve years, so I really should know why this happens.
I,ve rescued two sets of two (four in all) sows in the last year, what I didn't realise was that they sprayed! I thought this was just the boys!
My girls all get along fine, so can anyone please inform me why they do this, thanks so much,
 
Yes. Mistletoe sprayed Caramel (neutered boar) when he tried to mate her!

Never seen any of the other sows do it. Only seen it that one time from Mistletoe. It worked.

While boars spray pee to mark piggies and surroundings as theirs with their testosterone laden pee, sows target pee as a very effective way of telling the other piggy to stay away from their bum (pheromone sniffing). This can be aimed at both boars trying to keep up with the pheromone status of a sow about to come into season but also for sow companions doing the same, especially when a sow companion in season is becoming a pest.

Recovering companions digging for fresh healthy redigested poos (live gut microbiome transfer) are also met with the same fate if they wear down the healthy companion's patience.

You can always tell an experienced husboar by his very quick jumping back reflex!
